My Story
The person behind the choice
For more than 25 years I have worked closely with over 350 owner families across the Nordics and internationally. I helped establish the Family Business Network in Norway, led Family Enterprise at EY, and later co-founded Nordic Family Office.
According to McKinsey, family-owned businesses account for more than 70 percent of the world’s GDP. The choices owners make therefore shape more than the businesses they own.
They shape the future — and the world all of us live in.
For many years I believed my most important task was getting the structures right.
I wasn’t wrong that they were necessary. I was wrong that they were the whole job.
The structure is the frame. The person is the one who has to use it.
Behind every decision there is experience, ambition and good intentions. But also fear, expectation, and patterns we don’t always see in ourselves.
An owner could want change and still hold on to control. A leader could see the right direction and let fear choose instead. Someone in the next generation could have every opportunity and still be living a life someone else had defined. So what matters is not only what we know. It is who we are when we use what we know.
That realisation led me to spend more than 20 years searching for the most effective tools for human development. Because when we know ourselves, we choose more freely, lead more clearly, and use our influence more consciously.
Through Nordic Family Office we work with families, ownership and the development of the next generation, including in collaboration with INSEAD and SDA Bocconi School of Management. Bridging Impact Academy was created to develop the person behind the role. Through Living System we work with the personality, the filters and the patterns that shape how we think, relate, lead and choose.
Nordic Family Office strengthens the outer foundation. Bridging Impact Academy develops our understanding of the person who has to use it. But I discovered that understanding alone does not always create freedom. I wanted to go deeper.
My Path
From understanding to mastery
For more than 20 years I searched for the most effective tools for human development.
I studied leadership, communication, personality and human patterns. I learned to understand why we do what we do.
But I discovered something else:
- Understanding what limits you is not the same as breaking through it.
- We can see the pattern and repeat it anyway. We can know what we want and still choose what is safe and familiar.
- Understanding matters. But understanding without action does not create a new life.
- I think it comes down to where we have put our training.
We are built with three centres. Mind, heart and instinct. We have trained the mind since we were six years old. The heart and the instinct, rarely or never.
Analysis is the mind’s instrument. And the mind cannot release what the heart and the instinct are holding. So I looked for something that went deeper than models and analysis. Practical tools, direct experience, discipline, and real development over time.
That search led me to the Modern Mystery School. What I found did not replace what I had already learned. It worked with the whole person, not only the mind.
- Here, insight is not the end. It is the beginning.
- What you see, you have to be willing to work with. What you know, you have to be willing to live.
- That is why I trained as a Guide, Teacher and Healer.
- Not to leave business, ownership or leadership, but to be able to meet the whole person. Not only to help people understand what holds them back – but to give them a way through it.
Two worlds. One direction.
I kept the two parts of my work apart for years. Not because I doubted, but because I knew how it could be received.
Today I see it clearly. The professional world develops what we do. The spiritual path develops the one we do it from.
We need both.

Where the path begins

Empower Thyself is the next. Two days where you receive tools you can use for the rest of your life, and are initiated into the lineage. From there the path continues, at your own pace. The lineage
The Modern Mystery School
I am a Certified Guide, Teacher and Healer in the Modern Mystery School – one of the world’s seven ancient mystery schools, and the only one open to the public. The school carries an unbroken lineage back to King Salomon, and at the heart of the work is the ancient maxim “Know Thyself”.
About the school
The Modern Mystery School preserves and passes on ancient wisdom about the human being and life, within a living culture of light. The aim is simple: that each person comes to know themselves and live in alignment with their own purpose.
The lineage
The tradition is carried on through an unbroken lineage from King Salomon. Its guardians are the Third Order – Sovereign Ipsissimus & Hierophant Gudni GED Gudnason, founder of the Modern Mystery School, together with Sovereign Ipsissimus Dave Lanyon and Sovereign Ipsissimus Hideto Nakagome.
Governance
The school is stewarded with care through the Governing Ipsissima & Ipsissimus Council and the Council of 12, who safeguard quality, ethics and the purity of the lineage.
My place
As a Guide I hold open the gateway to these teachings: I give the Life Activation, teach Empower Thyself, and initiate people into the King Salomon lineage.
